Passenger rights
Compensation checker
Pick your airports, the airline that operated the flight and what happened. The checker shows which rule likely covers you, the amount band the rule sets, and how far the flight is. It runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.

Turkey's SHY-YOLCU
Likely amount: €250 per passenger
Every flight departing an airport in Turkey is covered, on any airline.
- SHY-YOLCU pays for delays of 3 hours or more at the final destination caused by technical or operational reasons (rule in force since 10 Dec 2024).
- SHY-YOLCU amounts are paid in Turkish lira at the Central Bank of Turkey's rate on the payment date.

How we measured the distance
Great-circle distance between the two airports, with the haversine formula and an Earth radius of R = 6,371 km:
d = 2R · asin(√(sin²(Δφ/2) + cos φ₁ · cos φ₂ · sin²(Δλ/2)))
IST: φ₁ = 41.2749°, λ₁ = 28.7321° · PRN: φ₂ = 42.5728°, λ₂ = 21.0358°
d = 2 × 6371 × asin(…) = 652.6 km
Bands used by the rules: up to 1,500 km; 1,500 to 3,500 km; over 3,500 km. Under EU rules, flights between two EU airports over 1,500 km stay in the middle band. For a connection booked as one ticket, the rules look at the delay at your final destination, so try the checker with your first departure and final arrival too.
What the checker doesn't do
- It doesn't know why your flight was late. Whether a cause counts as extraordinary is for the airline to prove, and for the authority or a court to decide.
- It only covers the five rules on our claims page, and the airports in the list (Prishtina, Tirana and the usual hubs and diaspora cities).
- It doesn't cover bags, refunds or meals and hotels while you wait: see the claims page for those. Flight claims →
