Flights from the US to Tirana (TIA) and Prishtina (PRN): hubs, airlines and when to book
Every trip from the US to Kosovo or Albania has at least one stop. Here's what actually flies, checked on 21 October 2026 against the airports' own boards and the airlines' own pages. We don't print fares, because they change by the hour.

Is there a nonstop from the US?
No. As of 21 October 2026, no airline flies nonstop from the US to Tirana or Prishtina. A Delta New York–Tirana route was talked about in the news in 2025, but Delta's own newsroom lists its new 2026 European routes (Madrid, Nice, Rome, Barcelona, Sardinia, Porto and Malta) and Tirana isn't one of them. United's summer 2026 announcement doesn't include Tirana or Prishtina either.
The closest nonstop to North America is Air Transat's Toronto–Tirana flight. In 2026 it left Toronto on Thursdays from 18 June to 8 October, landing in Tirana the next day (19 June to 9 October). Tirana airport says it returns on 8 May 2027, on Saturdays, adding Tuesdays from 22 June through August, until 23 October 2027.
The one-stop hubs and airlines
Tirana: on 21 October 2026, Tirana airport's arrivals board showed flights from Istanbul (Turkish Airlines), Vienna (Austrian), Frankfurt and Munich (Lufthansa), Zurich (SWISS), Rome Fiumicino (ITA Airways), London Heathrow (British Airways) and Warsaw (LOT). All of them have nonstop flights from the US to their hub, so one connection gets you there.
Prishtina: Turkish Airlines flies in from Istanbul and Austrian from Vienna. From Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf the Lufthansa Group flight is operated by Eurowings, and from Zurich by Edelweiss. Our flights page lists which hub works from each big US city.
Turkish Airlines' own US booking pages for Kosovo and Albania (checked 21 October 2026) show itineraries through Istanbul from cities including New York JFK, Newark, Boston, Atlanta, Dallas–Fort Worth and Miami.
To a European or Istanbul hub Hub to Prishtina or Tirana, and Toronto–Tirana nonstop in summer
Bati's route: Orlando and Miami to Prishtina
Bati, who runs Mirë se erdhët, flies from Orlando (MCO) or Miami (MIA) to Prishtina about four times a year, always with one connection in Europe or Istanbul.
In 2026 his Turkish Airlines TK78 flight was delayed. He filed a €600 claim under Turkey's SHY-YOLCU passenger rules, and the claim is still pending. If it happens to you, our compensation guide explains EU261 and SHY-YOLCU.
Tirana or Prishtina?
Price both. Tirana has more airlines from the big hubs: on 21 October 2026 its board also showed British Airways from Heathrow, LOT from Warsaw and ITA Airways from Rome, which don't fly to Prishtina.
The two are linked by the A1 motorway, Rruga e Kombit. Tirana airport to Prishtina is about 242 km, roughly 3 h 15 min without stops. By bus, Gjirafa Travel lists 25 departures a day from Tirana to Prishtina at about €20 (checked 21 October 2026).
Landing at one and flying home from the other? Search it as a multi-city trip so both flights stay on one ticket.
When to book and when to fly
Summer is the peak. At Prishtina in 2025, August (513,708 passengers) and July (458,348) were the busiest months and February (307,418) the quietest, per Kosovo's Civil Aviation Authority. Among long-haul and onward destinations from Prishtina, New York JFK ranked first, then Newark, Frankfurt and Chicago O'Hare.
Summer and the end-of-year holidays are when families fly home, so book those dates as early as you can and set a fare alert. If your dates are flexible, late winter was the quietest time at Prishtina in 2025.
Flying into Tirana in winter? The US State Department notes that flights there are often delayed or cancelled by heavy fog in the winter months, so leave slack in your plans.
Before you fly
US citizens don't need a visa for Kosovo (up to 90 days within 6 months) or Albania (up to 1 year), per the State Department. Albania needs 3 months of passport validity beyond your departure. The details are in our entry rules guide.
Book the whole trip on one ticket. If a cheap Europe leg is a separate booking, a missed connection is your problem, not the airline's.
