Rahovec

Qyteti i verës — Kosovo's wine town.

A hill town in south-western Kosovo surrounded by vineyards, at the heart of the country's main wine region. Its old quarter has a clock tower and stone kulla houses, and every September the Hardh Fest grape-harvest festival fills the town.

Visit a winery for a tasting: Stone Castle, Kosova Wine, Sefa and others.
The clock tower (Sahat kulla) and the old quarter.

Fancy dinners

Hotel restaurants, lakeside or seaside terraces, and places where you dress a little nicer for a long meal.

Typical dishes: Grilled fish or seafood, lamb, steaks, salads and wine. On the coast look for fresh catch of the day; inland, thoughtful takes on tavë kosi and traditional plates.

Bella Agroturizëm — Farm-to-table restaurant about 8 km south of town, with traditional dishes and fresh local produce. Directions ↗

Street food

Bakeries, grill counters and small stands you can eat standing up or take away.

Typical dishes: Byrek and pite by the piece, qebapa in bread with onion and kajmak, qofte, suxhuk, bakllava and strong coffee or macchiato.

Restaurant Saranda (Fortesa) — Famous for roast chicken, 10 minutes from Rahovec toward Gjakova. Takeaway available. Directions ↗

Comfort food

Family kitchens, village guesthouses and everyday restaurants that cook like home.

Typical dishes: Tavë kosi, fërgesë, flija or pite, sarma, beans (pasul), yogurt and simple grilled meats. In the mountains: dairy, flija and slow-cooked dishes.

Stone Castle Vineyards & Winery

Kosovo's largest winery. It started as a state winery in 1953 and has been family-owned since 2006. Estate-grown wines, exported as far as the US.
