Short answer

Thanksgiving is Thursday 26 November 2026 and Christmas is Friday 25 December 2026 (US Office of Personnel Management). On 24 October that's 33 and 62 days away. Turkish Airlines' own pages showed New York–Prishtina from USD 680 for mid-November dates and New York–Tirana from USD 649 for 25–29 November, in a 23 October snapshot. Those are not quotes.

A real trip: when TK78 was late

Bati, who runs this site, flies Orlando or Miami to Prishtina about four times a year with one connection. In 2026 his Turkish Airlines flight TK78 was delayed. Because it was a Turkish airline flying to or from Turkey, the rule that applied was Turkey's SHY-YOLCU.

He filed a €600 claim under SHY-YOLCU, the amount for the longest international distance band (paid in Turkish lira). It is still pending. If your holiday flight is late, our claims page shows which rule covers you and how to file.
