Përbërësit

Ingredients

  • 250 g butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • About 400 g flour (enough for a soft dough)
  • Syrup: 500 g sugar, 500 ml water, a few lemon slices
  • Halved almonds or walnuts to decorate (optional)

Përgatitja

Method

  1. Make the syrup first: boil the sugar, water and lemon for 10 minutes and let it cool completely.
  2. Beat the butter, sugar and eggs, then add the baking powder and enough flour for a soft, non-sticky dough.
  3. Roll into walnut-sized balls, flatten slightly, press a nut on top and bake at 180°C (350°F) until golden, about 20–25 minutes.
  4. Pour the cold syrup over the hot cookies and leave them for a few hours to soak.

Tip: Hot cookies, cold syrup — that's the rule, so they soak without going mushy.
